Since starting regular staff check-ins through intelliHR, we discovered how much more capability one staff member had than we initially thought. We have since assisted his career progression and conducted a remuneration review. The outcome was a happy employee feeling valued and appreciated. Without intelliHR prompting us to address this in real-time, we could have lost this valuable employee.

DisruptHR Brisbane 2017 Recap
DisruptHR Brisbane 2017 Recap

DisruptHR is changing the way Brisbane thinks about people management

For the very first time, DisruptHR arrived in Brisbane on July 26 at the Brisbane Powerhouse. The night was a dazzling, fast-paced event that had the room buzzing and thinking differently about HR. Sparking new ideas and creating fresh conversations amongst the attendees who included HR professionals, CEOs and other business leaders, it was a night to remember.

Designed to shake up the way we think about HR and people management, DisruptHR is a series of presenters, speaking for five minutes each, with slides rotating every 15 seconds. A fun, dynamic and agile exchange of ideas about people, culture and technology. The wide-ranging topics were intended to not only inform HR professionals and leaders, but empower, energise and challenge the way they think. The first DisruptHR event was held in September 2013 in Cincinnati, USA and has since left 94 cities around the globe excited and provoked into moving people management into the future – the Brisbane event was no different.

DisruptHR was proudly brought to Brisbane for the first time by intelliHR. “I had seen the event overseas and it was an incredible, inspiring event for me as an HR Practitioner looking for new ideas and thinking, not to mention entertaining,” says intelliHR CEO Rob Bromage. “intelliHR is proud to be championing fresh and innovative thinking about people management in our local community.”

The nine presenters for the Brisbane event were the best of the best and were carefully selected from a large group of enthusiastic applicants. The Disruptors included Petra Zink founder of impaCCCT; Dominic Wells consultant at LIW; Sonia McDonald CEO of Leadership HQ; Jarrod McGrath CEO of SmartWFM; Leanne Hughes; Therese Lardner of Mindset Coaching and Consulting; Lisa Grinham CEO of Good2Give; Sharon Howard of HR Business Partners and Glenn Donaldson from intelliHR. The diverse topics for the night included: “Why HR needs to Put on the Oxygen Mask”, “Desperately Seeking Emotional Vocabulary” and “Augmented Reality’s Effect on HR”.

At the conclusion of the presentations, Rob Bromage was pleased to donate the ticket proceeds from the evening to three charities: The Endeavour Foundation, The Mater Foundation and Centacare Brisbane, via online giving platform Good2Give.

After the presenters took the stage, attendees were given the chance to network and exchange their own ideas over drinks. The night got the city thinking in a new way and ready to agitate the status quo. Bring on DisruptHR Brisbane 2.0!
